Debbie Wacks spent her formative years growing up in Los Angeles. She later left for New York City to earn a Ph.D. in Art History and then relocated to Hong Kong, where she taught at various universities. While in New York, Debbie curated and wrote the catalogue for the multi-media exhibition: «SMIRK: women, art, and humor» (2001). Her published works include several pieces regarding the 1970s, Carnivalesque Unruliness, and Performance Art. Concomitantly, Debbie has immersed herself in the life-altering study of the Enneagram (a profound system of personality typing) and has completed the training to serve as a Reiki Channel (a giver of healing energy).  She has retuned to California where she is finishing her book, Subversive Humor: The 1970s Performance Art of Hannah Wilke, Eleanor Antin, and Adrian Piper, and is teaching at the university level.

Debbie Wacks pasó sus años de formación en Los Ángeles. Más tarde se fue a la ciudad de Nueva York para obtener un doctorado en Historia del Arte y luego se trasladó a Hong Kong, donde enseñó en varias universidades. Mientras estaba en Nueva York, Debbie curó y escribió el catálogo de la exposición multimedia: «SMIRK: women, art, and humor» (2001). Sus obras publicadas incluyen varias piezas sobre la década de 1970, Carnivalesque Unruliness y Performance Art.
